How I can make your child successful
When working one-on-one in a tutoring setting, my goal is to not only identify the student's needs, but also to go above and beyond the expectations of parents and families. Before working with a student, my first priority is communicating with the parents in order to better understand strengths, weaknesses and goals for their child. Communication with teachers or counselors can also be beneficial. During the session, the student and I will begin by reviewing what was previously taught and then identify goals for the current session that may reteach, review or introduce new content. Our time may be spent studying for an upcoming exam, completing homework assignments, reviewing content, learning new strategies to better complete school and homework, or teaching new concepts. At the end of a session, communication with the student about what has been achieved, and what to expect in the following session is key. I also inform the parents on noted successes, and goals set for next time.
When our sessions go beyond completing homework, all materials necessary for your child to participate in a tutoring session are provided. These may include supplemental exercises, review material, flashcards, games, or other academic activities that engage the student. My goal is to target each student's learning style and to find teaching materials that best match this style.

My education and training has allowed me to create a unique teaching strategy that is designed to meet the individual needs of each student. This means improving upon foundational skills that they have or need, as well as working to increase confidence and independence. I look forward to working with you and your child as we create an environment that encourages growth and provides scaffolding that will lead to a greater success inside and outside of the classroom.
